Your fall adventure begins the moment you arrive. As you enter downtown Cynthiana, you’ll be welcomed by two towering 12-foot skeletons - the first of more than 1000 whimsical skeletons you’ll discover throughout the community. Each autumn, residents, businesses, and visitors adopt and creatively decorate poseable skeletons, transforming Cynthiana into one of Kentucky’s most unique fall destinations. Around every corner, you’ll find clever displays, laugh-out-loud scenes, and unforgettable photo opportunities.

The Cynthiana Curiosities Adoption Bureau is a unique initiative launched in 2025, inviting locals and visitors to “adopt” delightfully odd and whimsical characters, objects, and curiosities. From peculiar creations to playful artifacts, each curiosity adds a spark of imagination to your home.
Designed as a companion project to the beloved Skeleton Adoption Agency, this new pop-up shop tradition celebrates creativity, humor, and the unexpected—giving residents a chance to show off their quirky side while offering visitors something fresh to discover each year. With its debut, the Curiosities Adoption Bureau is set to become another signature Cynthiana tradition, blending community spirit with the wonderfully strange.

Cynthiana is considered one of the most haunted cities in Kentucky -
a fact we celebrate. Nothing screams fall quite like guided tours of the ghostly tales and folklore of Cynthiana itself.
Step into Cynthiana’s past as history and mystery intertwine.
Our popular Ghost Walks, led by award-winning storytellers, reveal legendary tales, local folklore, and eerie encounters, including stories from the historic Rohs Opera House- one of Kentucky’s most haunted buildings.
For a different journey through time, the History & Headstones Tour shares the lives, legacies, and fascinating stories of the people who helped shape Cynthiana.
Tickets for both tours can be purchased through the Rohs Opera House website.
